Training Update

Less than three months until the Berlin Marathon! How did that happen? It has been super hot here in the South this week, plus crazy humid, so I had to toke down the workouts!

Monday was yoga at the pool. 45 minutes of yoga plus a one mile walk to start the week.

Tuesday was a run day. I’m coaching half marathoners in the morning and 5k runners at night. The night runs are way harder because of the heat and humidity!
The morning run was 3 miles of easy running. No track work, which was nice.

The evening run was supposed to be speed work,  but when I arrived, it was 98 degrees out plus humidity. Nope. We ran an easy mile, walked an easy mile, and did some strength exercises inside the air conditioned store afterwards.

Wednesday is self care day! I taught yoga, had breakfast at Panera, and window shopped.

Wednesday night was the Firecracker 5k. It was 101 on my there and 99 when I parked the car. Add the humidity and it was a literal hot mess. I survived, thanks to locals putting out their sprinklers.

Thursday morning I was supposed to run the American Four Miler in Charlotte, but I woke with a migraine. Too many days in a row running in the heat finally took its toll, and I was too dehydrated to run. This is the first time since moving here that I didn't run on 4th. I did manage to participate in our neighborhood parade though!

And then we set off fireworks.

Friday was also a rest day.

Saturday I ran 5 miles with my pace group and walked 3 more on my own, for a total of 8. My foot is still wonky, and the heat and humidity were so out of control, that 10 just wasn't in the cards.

Independence Day FUN with Knockaround

I received two pairs of Knockaround sunglasses as part of being a BIBRAVE Pro (Ambassador). Check out BIBRAVE.com to find and write race reviews.

On Thursday, I wrote about the awesome Fast Lanes that I received for the run. I also received a cute pair of Glossy Blonder Tortoise Shell Paso Robles for the fun the next day!

I did try them out a few times in advance...

So stinking cute! I love them so much! Okay, so on the morning of Independence Day, my neighborhood always has a golf cart parade. We have taken part every year and this year was no different.

We decorate our cart, get a big bag of lollipops, and drive through our neighborhood in a caravan. It’s so much fun, but it’s also super sunny and warm by the time we start at 10 am.

I was so glad to have my Paso Robles! They are super cute and the polarized lenses have UV400 protection! The lenses are also impact resistant and they done with a protective pouch. Let’s not forget that Knockaround does FREE returns and they offer free shipping on orders over $50. If you use the code BIBRAVEKNOCKS2 along with their sale (until July 8th) you get 45% off! Whoa!

If you read this after the 8th, that code will work on its own until July 15th.
Which pairs will you get?

Independence Day Racing with Knockaround

I received two pairs of Knockaround sunglasses as part of being a Bibrave Peo (ambassador). One for
The run and one for the fun. Check out BIBRAVE.com to find and write race reviews.

Let’s start by talking about the run. Stay tuned tomorrow for the fun!
Last night I ran the Firecracker 5k in Charlotte. I arrived at the start and it was 101 degrees and humid!

Yikes! This was no longer a race, it was a fun run. No way was I trying to beat any PRs. I was just going to treat it as a run with some friends. I picked up my bib and got ready to run.

These sunglasses are amazing! The Fast Lanes are so sharp looking and the lenses have UV400 protection, which are perfect for SC sunny races! Plus they look gooooood. They are also 100% happiness guaranteed, and all US orders are free to return. Moot point, if you ask me, but I’m just putting that out there! They also offer free shipping on orders over $50.

Anyway. The run. Of course, I had to meet up with my peeps and take some selfies...

There were so many more! I didn’t want to bore anyone with them all. Time to line up, and I ran into Go Outside Girl at the start!

Ok, so I shared one more selfie! I could not resist.
The course was a little hilly, and it was so hot. The residents were on point, though. Kids with water guns and sprinklers were in abundance. It was a life saver for sure. I ran through every one. Every. One. The first water stop had ice in the cups, but by the time I got to the second and third, their ice had melted. Darn heat wave!

I definitely walked a lot. My average pace was just under 15 minutes and I was soaked, and not from the sprinklers. The finish line was fully stocked though! They had food, which I was not hungry for, and ice pops and water and Gatorade. I had two grape ice pops and two bottled waters.

The medal is so cute!
I was supposed to run the American Four Miler this morning but I woke up with a migraine and I was worried that running the race would further my dehydration and ruin the rest of the Holiday, so it was a DNS for me. I hate that, but I need to be smart!

Knockaround is having a sale from today until July 8th, and if you use the code BIBRAVEKNOCKS2 along with their sale, you get 45% off. YES! Time to go shopping!!

Did you race during the holiday?

Fun! Fun! Fun!
Tonight is the 5k, and tomorrow morning is the Four Miler. Be on the lookout for my recap tomorrow night! Well, possibly Friday. Fireworks, y’all.

I’m al set! Wonder Woman tonight and American Flag tomorrow, with Knockarounds at both!

Are you racing for Independence Day?

2019 Goal Update

Real talk! I wrote a whole blog post and then I don’t know what I did, but I erased the whole thing!
For now, here is my updated Achievement Board. I met a lot of goals and added a few more! I still have some progress to make, and some are goals that will take al year.

Training Update for the Berlin Marathon

As the day approaches, I’m getting more and more excited about visiting Berlin! I still don’t know how my training will go and if my feet will hold up, but that won’t change the fact that I’m finally traveling abroad!

Monday I taught yoga at the pool. And by at the pool, I mean in the parking lot where there is some shade. I also walked a mile. My streak is currently 63 days and I’m hoping to keep it going!

Tuesday was track workout day. I coached the half marathoners in the morning and the 5k runners at night. This may be why my feet ache, but I gotta get in the miles so there’s nothing to be done right now!

Wednesday I taught yoga and then walked my mile at Hobby Lobby. For real. You don’t even have to hit every aisle.

Thursday was another double run day.

I coached in the morning and then ran a Ragnar Preview with my friend Kelly at night. I may have fallen on the trail and aggravated my foot, but whatever.

Friday was a rest day so I walked a mile and called it quits.
Saturday was long run day. I had 10 planned, but stopped at 4.5 since my foot was wonky.

Sunday I hiked with my Boys, and then attended a Bridal
Shower.

Not a terrible week overall! What was your favorite workout this week?
